Doohan And Stoner on Australian Training Schemes

TWO OF Australia's greatest motorcycle racers have spoken out over their country's lack of motorcycle training for junior and novice riders, saying the Government should be doing more to promote safer riding.

Five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan and former MotoGP title holder Casey Stoner said fatalities amongst young and experienced riders were growing because decent training wasn't available within Victoria state.

Bendy signs to roll out on Captain Cook Highway

Softer, more flexible road signs to help lessen the impact of motorbike crashes are being rolled out at motorbike hotspots in the far north.

Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace and the Member for Barron River, Steve Wettenhall inspected the new safety measures today.

"The Captain Cook Highway here in the far north is one of the first hotspots to benefit from the new safety initiatives. I'm hoping they will be a real triumph in road safety for motorbike riders," Mr Wallace said.
